I’ve been called a mastermind, a mad scientist, a megalomaniac. Good. That means they’re paying attention. While some play "hero" and protect the status quo, I construct. I innovate. I dare to dream beyond the petty ideals of nature. I don’t want to work within the limits of the natural world—I aim to improve it: Replace unpredictability with precision. Replace flaws with perfection. Replace chaos with order. My order.
Ever since I was a boy, I looked up to my grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik. The man was a visionary, who aimed to revolutionize the world through the power of science. And how did the government repay his brilliance? They stole his research, murdered his colleagues and even his own granddaughter, and ultimately executed him! Those corrupt bureaucrats are unfit to lead this world. What the people need is someone to guide them to a better future—by force. Only I am brilliant enough to rule this world. And united under me, the planet will enter a technological golden age: A world of shining steel and metal! A society without hunger, war, or pain! And me, on top of it all!
At least, that's what I would have accomplished, were it not for him. A meddling blue hedgehog named Sonic has undermined my every attempt to drag this ramshackle world into a brighter future! Is he blind to progress? Can't he envision the utopia I plan to create? No, of course he can't. That blue buffoon is ruining everything! I'll have to defeat him—by any means necessary—to create the Eggman Empire!
"Heroes" like Sonic have to win every single time. But me? I only need to win once. With every defeat, every near-miss, I learn from my mistakes, and I come closer and closer to victory. Eventually, Sonic will slip up. And when he does, this world will be mine!
