After my brilliant Death Egg was unfairly shot down by that spiky blue pest, it crashed onto a floating island suspended in the sky by a gemstone of immense power: the legendary Master Emerald. Naturally, I saw opportunity. If I could harness that emerald’s energy, I could not only relaunch the Death Egg, but use it to reshape the world itself!

But I needed help. Enter Knuckles the Echidna, the dimwitted guardian of Angel Island. With a few well-placed lies creative embellishments, I convinced the gullible brute that Sonic was his true enemy, out to steal the Master Emerald for himself. That gave me all the time I needed to set up operations, turn the local wildlife into new Badniks, and build a new launch base right in the very heart of Angel Island!

Of course, Sonic and that twin-tailed nuisance Tails couldn’t leave well enough alone. They stormed across the island — jungles, underwater cities, and even my spectacular new Carnival Night Zone — smashing my Badniks and wrecking my machinery like the rude little snipes they are. And when I got the Death Egg close to liftoff, they came crashing in!

Still, I did manage to launch the Death Egg again... briefly. Their interference brought it down a second time, crash-landing in the Lava Reef Zone. But even that setback didn’t stop me. My plans were far from over, and I was ready for round 2 in Sonic & Knuckles!
